Well the last few days have been interesting. My parents are in the country and it’s the first time that I’ve seen them in ust under a year. I met up with them last holiday season in England for a family xmas, but it’s the first time that I’ve been able to hang out with just them since I’ve been down here, so in the last year and a half.
Anyways, I hung out with them for a couple days in Sydney, showing them around, then we went down to Adelaide so that we could check out Kangaroo Island. Adelaide is a small city that doesn’t take too long to check out. Everything is within walking distance. KI was an interesting place to visit, lots of farms but since the wool prices recently fell a lot of them have had to switch their farming so some of the farms we saw did honey farming, eucalyptus oil and sheep dairy (sheep cheese is pretty darn good!). We also saw some of the remote beaches, cliff faces and natural scenery, but I think that the highlight for me had to be the wildlife. We say a good heap of it at a wildlife park, was even able to pet some of the koalas and kangaroos, not mention hold a baby kangaroo (aka a joey)… too cool. But the wild life wasn’t just in the park, managed to see some wild Koalas as well and even managed pet some wild kangaroos. Also saw some seals and NZ Sealions. I took tons of photos, but unfortunately I won’t be able to post them until I get home in Feb and buy that film scanner. I know, I’m still in the dark ages, I use film…. GASP!
Couple Notes:
- I love flying Virgin Blue (a discount airline) for the pure and simple fact that all the employees are easy on the eyes. A little too much makeup in some cases, but still attractive
- I would love the life of a Koala, they sleep for 20 hours a day! Not a bad lifestyle, sleeps in trees all days long. I’m surprised that they have such a thick fur coat for living in such a warm climate.
- It was werid sight-seeing with my parents again, haven’t done it since I was a teenager, I think that the biggest change was staying in hotels. I’m used to crashing in hostels when I travel.
Anyways, it’s down for the homestretch now, I have less then two weeks to pack up my life in Sydney before I start travelling. I’m in a little bit of denial about the whole thing.
