Sorry for the lack of website in the last couple days, my host says that they had some corrupted servers and needed to change servers, lucky for me, I was on that server, so I experienced a good chunk of down time. Boooo to that…
Well xmas & boxing day are over and I must say that I had a good time. On Xmas I met up with my parents and did the Bondi to Coogee scenic walk, which is a walk along the rocky shore line between two of Sydney’s major eastern beaches. Then once we got to my area, Coogee, we had a picnic on the beach. While the weather was less then ideal for the beach, we made the most of it. I think that part of me was worried about what my ‘rents would think about the picnic b/c Xmas has always been a feast in our family, so I had to live up to that by hosting a fabulous picnic. And it all turned out to be a huge success. I think that my mom was just happy that she didn’t have to lift a finger.
As for Boxing day, we went to check out the start of the Sydney to Hobart race. It’s one of the bigger races in the world (about 118 boats competed), it’s only about 630 nautical miles, but it’s a rough race. Some people even lost thier lives in ‘98. That evening we went to have dinner with my mom’s cousin, who my mom hasn’t seen since she was my age. I gotta say that even though it’s my second time seeing him, I love his house!! He’s got a balcony that looks into a valley which contains a forest reserve. Even though he lives in the north end of Sydney, you can’t see a single house when you look out and it’s a great escape from the city.
And now I have only a few days to pack up my whole life before I head down to Tasmania and start my travels… crap.
