Well I’m Tassie… I’ve only been down here for 30hrs or so, but it’s really nice. I like it. If you like small towns of 140,000 or so. So when I got here I checked out the harbour, a lot of the Sydney to Hobart boats were in the harbour, so you could get up close and check them out. Very impressive!
But I guess the big surprise is that when I was chilling at my hostel I started talking to a fellow Canadian. Turns out he went to a private school in TO and went to school with a few of my mates. Small world! So that night I invited him out to NYE festivities with me and my frisbee friends, who are also down in Hobart. Went to the harbour where there was a massive street party and lots of people. Though there were a lot of drunk <18 y/o. I think that a fun part fo the night was seeing one of them in a full sprint running away from two cops. I’d like to say that he got away but he tripped on something and hit the pavement hard. We couldn’t help but point an laugh at him. That’s what you get for resisting arrest.
Today I went for a stroll around Hobart - it has a very European feel in some of the areas. But that just goes for Asutralia in general, it has a stronger European influence on it, as compared to Canada which is another Commonwealth.
I got to play frisbee today, so I was happy. Since there’s New Years activities going on the Tassie club put on an exhibition game in a local park. It only lasted for 30 minutes, but it’s good to touch a disc again, heck if’t been almost two full weeks since I last played! Tomorrow I’m off to travel around Tassie insix days. Should be good times, hope I meet some good people.
