back in Hobart

Well I’m back in Hobart after spending six days wondering around the great state of Tasmania. Here are a few of my notes:

Tullah: A small town in the south-west corner of TAS that’s surrounded by a few mountains and on a spectacular lake. Managed to do some solo canoeing, and four-wheel ATVing on the sand dunes, SO MUCH FUN!!

Cradle Mountain: A great national park that offers fantastic hike, we wanted to climb close to the summit (about six hours return trip) but due to the crappy weather we couldn’t. So we ended up walking around the lakes (and up a couple hills) in on/off rain/drizzle, it wasn’t too bad in the end, we still managed to walk about 10-12km and I managed to dress appropriately so I wasn’t cold or wet

Mt. Amos: After a day of rain we climbed up a slippery Mt Amos to get an ariel view of Wineglass Bay. It was worth the hike, it was such a good view.

Port Arthur: Port Arthur is one of the most historic sites in TAS, it’s one of the original prisons that existed in the 1800’s. It’s a fantastic site in terms in history and photography.

photos: Well when I spent about 21 days in NZ and 24 days in Thailand I only took 7 rolls (of 36 exp) in each place, but in the firs 7 days of my travels I’ve already taken 5 full rolls. I’ve decided to follow a shoot first, think later mentality. Also, one of my friends told me the best piece of advice before I left Canada; you can never take too many photos, I agree

Well that’s about it from now, I’m off to Cairns tomorrow, it’s in the North-East corner of Oz, and from there I’ll be working my way down to Sydney over a three-four week period.
