Well here I am in Byron Bay. I’ve been looking forward to coming here for a little while now b/c Byron is famous for it’s hippie/laid-back lifestyle. Even though I’ve only been here for a little while, it has not disappointed at all! I think that this might be my last post before I head back to Sydney on Sunday, which is only a few days away.
It’s an interesting time to visit Byron b/c today is Australia’s b-day and there are parties all over town. Saying that, since I’m travelling on my own it gets a little tired having to keep on finding people to hang out with. While I do keep bumping into people I’ve met further up the coast, it’s a little infrequent and they’re nothing more then aquaintences. I find myself having the same conversations with everyone I meet while I travel.
- where are you from: Canada
- how long have you been in travelling for/in Oz for: 20 months
- wow, how come so long: I went to school in Sydney
- what are you studying: just finished a masters degree in marketing
- are you heading north or south: south
- have you travelled anywhere else: NZ South Island, Thailand and a little Cambodia
- have you done this trip or that trip: yes and no, didn’t have time
- etc, etc, etc
You get the point. It’ll be good to be in Port Maquarie this weekend so that I can chill with a friend and not have to worry about that stupid small talk. Not that I don’t like meeting new people, I just don’t want to have the same conversation over and over and over. I think the next person I meet I’ll make myself a brain-surgeon. Just to mix it up a bit.
Oh, I just spent the last couple days in Brisbane and it’s a nice city, if I’m right it’s the third largest in Oz. It’s on a river close to the coast and seems pretty good. Since it was a rainy time there I checked out the art gallery. Wasn’t that impressive but they did have a hands-on Lego area. I was there for a good hour.
