Here to stay… for a few days at least

Well here I am, back in Sydney. I arrived back in the metropolis on Sunday night but not after enjoying my last few days on the East Coast. I must say that the surfer/hippie town of Byron Bay is the excellent. The people I met were good, the scenery was good, the town isn’t “too” touristy, etc. Even though I had ran pretty much all the days I spent there it still looked great! On my last full day I made a walk to the lighthouse in the rain, I decided that I couldn’t visit Byron without visiting it. The Pommies that I walked with decided to quit about half way there b/c they didn’t like getting wet. Which is ironic considering it always rains in England.

From Byron I took an 8hr overnight bus to Port Macquarie. Port isn’t a spectacular town, but it does have one thing that the other towns didn’t, a familiar face. One of my teammates grew up there and co-ordinated a trip home with my arrival so that he could show off his hometown to me. It was really good to see a familiar face.

I got back to Sydney on the Sunday night in time to go out with my friends to the Opera House steps to watch the Australian Open finals on a big screen. Unfortunately Hewitt’s dream of winning a Aussie Open will have to be put on hold as Safin proved to be the better player on the day.

Now I’m back in Sydney for a few days/weeks. I’m vague about when I’m coming home b/c the plan is to go home and show up at my best friend’s doorstep without any notice. I’ve given her a 2 week window when I’ll be home, but that’s it. The surprise is killing her… I love it!
